The Bluffton Friends of the Library will hold a used book sale April 10 through 17 during normal library hours. In and around the Apple Shed in the library poatrons will find mysteries, children's books, self-help books, craft books, biographies, and other fiction and non-fiction books. There will also be DVDs, VCR tapes, books on tape, magazines, and journals.

Also on sale will be a section of large print books. All materials will be for sale for a donation only.

Good Fridayin Bluffton

Bluffton Christians observed Good Friday with the traditional Bluffton Area Ministerial Association walk of the cross. The route took Christians from St. Mary's to English Lutheran, where a noon worship service took place. Along the way, stops were at the Bluffton Presbyterian, First United Methodist, First Mennonite and St. John's United Church of Christ.

Here's a second view of Science Hall in a colorized post card. The photo is taken from what is now University Drive. The two pillars were erected by the class of 1906. The pillar on the was gone many years ago. The pillar on the left stood until University Drive was curb.

Bluffton Hospital will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its facility expansion on Thursday, April 8 at 1:30 p.m. The event will feature remarks by Bill Watkins, Bluffton Hospital's chief administrative officer, as well as others involved with the project. LEGAL NOTICE

There will be a hearing by the Village of Bluffton Council, at 8:30 p.m., May 10, 2010, Monday, in the Community Room, 154 N. Main Street, Bluffton, OH 45817, on the third floor. The purpose of the hearing is to consider a rezoning from Commercial I to Residential III for the property located at 114 E. College Avenue. This request is to accommodate the creation of a multiple housing unit.

Bluffton University's Musselman Library will host its 2010 book sale Tueseday to Friday, April 13-16, in the main-floor Reading Room.

Hours for the sale are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday, April 13; 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, April 14 and 15; and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 16.

Hardcover books will be $1 and paperbacks, 50 cents; some items will be priced as marked. New items will be added to the sale each day, and proceeds will be used to purchase materials for library collections.

A course covering infant and child CPR techniques will take place at Bluffton Public Library on Thursday, April 15, from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Representatives of the Allen County Chapter of the American Cross will be teaching the course. The cost is $35 per participant and the course is open to people ages 10 years old and above.

Going for the pins

Paul Shekochikhin, Bluffton High School and Apollo Career Center student, bowls during a Big Brother Big Sister Apollo bowling fundraiser. Shekochikhin, a junior, is in the Apollo welding program. Students from Apollo raised $3,000 this spring to support the work of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Allen County. The bowling took place on April 1 at Westgate Lanes, Lima. Over 200 Apollo students participated.
