Pirate volleyball sweeps Wildcats in opener

The Bluffton volleyball team served up its season-opener with a convincing sweep over visiting Kalida on August 17.
The Lady Pirates defeated the Wildcat girls 25-15, 25-18, 25-18 to start out 1-0.
Kendall Stackhouse and Karlie Lora slammed 10 kills apiece to pace the offensive attack. Ayla Grandey added eight kills.
Gracie Yarnell dished out 30 assists, came up with nine digs and served a pair of aces.
Lora led the defense with 10 digs and two blocks. Avery Talavinia mustered eight digs and dealt three aces.
The Pirate girls also swept the JV match 2-0, and won the freshman bout 2-0 as well.
Bluffton hosts Shawnee Monday, then visits Pandora-Gilboa Tuesday in a
pair of non-league bouts.
