Obituaries

Mary Magdalene Boyer, 95, of Bluffton died Oct. 9, 2019, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.  A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, at the First Mennonite Church, Bluffton. 

Visitation and a luncheon will take place immediately following the service.  Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Kenneth S. Early, 60, of Glouster, Ohio, and formerly of Bluffton died Oct. 6, 2019, at his residence. Kenneth was born Dec. 4, 1958, in Bluffton, Ohio to the late Floyd and Mildred (Ridenour) Early. 

Kenneth was a 1975 graduate of Bath High School and the Ohio State University where he graduated with a degree in agriculture engineering.  He worked as an inspector for the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and also loved farming.

Theda M. Lehman died Oct. 5, 2019, just shy of her 99th birthday. She was born Nov. 8, 1920, on her parents Harry and Minnie (Schaublin) Anderson's family farm near Bluffton, Ohio.

She attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse. With the passing of her mother when she was 10, she learned a lot about life and grew up fast. She went on to graduate from Bluffton High School. While attending Lima business College, she worked for Union Central Life Insurance Co. She also worked at the Lima Locomotive Works as a bookkeeper and at St. Rita's Hospital during World War II.

Bluffton High School graduate Thomas R. Niswander, 68, of Metamora, Ohio died Sept. 15, 2019, in the Toledo Hospital, Toledo, Ohio, following a brief illness.

He was born Dec. 2, 1950, in Bluffton, Ohio, to the late Lysle E. and Leona E. (Schroer) Niswander. Tom retired in 2016 from Toledo Hospital where he worked as a network analyst in the IT department. 

He was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Bluffton.

Former Bluffton jeweler Clyde Franklin Ernsberger,  88, died unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, due to injuries sustained in an accident.

He started Ernsberger Jewerly in Bluffton, which was located on South Main Street, now part of the Citizens National Bank parking lot. Clyde was a member of the United Methodist Church throughout his life in Ada, Bluffton and Columbus, most recently at Church for All People.

Joanna M. Harris, 90, of Bluffton died Oct. 1, 2019, at Willow Ridge – Frieda House, Bluffton. She was born May 2, 1929, in Lima to the late John Joseph Finn and E. Ruth Bechdolt Finn Risser.  On Feb. 1, 1947, she married Richard C. Harris and he preceded her in death on April 20, 2004.
