BLUFFTON – Celebrating their 50th season in style, the host Bluffton summer swim team sits first out of eight teams after day one of the two-day West Ohio Aquatic League championship meet Friday, July 12, at the Bluffton Community Pool.

ADA __ The visiting Bluffton Sardines summer swim team swept West Ohio Aquatic League rival Ada on a hot and sunny Thursday evening, June 27.

The Sardines defeated the Gator boys by a score of 271-115. Meanwhile, the Bluffton females beat the Gator girls, 297-121.

Bluffton won the combined boys/girls team meet, 568-236.

The WOAL championship meet will be held at the Bluffton pool July 12-13.

Sardines celebrate 50th anniversary

More than 500 swimmers and their families will descend on Bluffton July 12-13, 2024 for the annual Western Ohio Aquatics League (WOAL) Swim Champs. WOAL swimmers are ages 5-18 and represent eight regional teams.

Registration for the fall 2024 season of Bluffton youth soccer remains open until June 30.

Bill Walton was the quintessential southern California baby boomer turned flower child.

No one or five articles can adequately describe the multi-layered personality of Big Bill. He was the rare great athlete who transcended his sport.

Armed with boundless energy and enthusiasm, he was a fierce Vietnam War protestor, a political champion of minorities and underdogs, even though he suffered from a severe stuttering problem. Walton was a serious bicyclist and a renowned music lover, especially of his favorite band, the Grateful Dead.

A youth soccer camp will be held by the Bluffton Exempted Village Schools for boys and girls entering grades 1-8 in fall 2024. It is staffed by BHS boy and girl teams' coaches and players.
