In front of a near capacity crowd, the #2 seeded Pandora-Gilboa boys basketball team pulled off the upset of #1 Delphos St. John’s in convincing fashion, to claim the Northwest 2 District Championship at the Elida Fieldhouse by a final of 56-43. This is the third district title in school history for the P-G boys (1999, 2018). A few of the stars on this year’s team were young ballboys for the State Final Four team in 2018.
The Pandora-Gilboa High School boys basketball tournament run will continue on to the District Finals. The #2 seed Rockets pulled out an exciting, hard fought 53-48 rematch win over #3 seed Ottoville (17-7) in the Division IV District semi-finals Tuesday, March 5 at the Elida Fieldhouse.
ROSSFORD__The Bluffton High School wrestling team sent six grapplers to the double elimination Div. III tournament at Rossford Friday and Saturday, March 1-2.
BLUFFTON__Playing for a capacity crowd, the Bluffton High School boys basketball team lost 70-59 to visiting league rival Columbus Grove in Div. III sectional first round action Tuesday, February 27.
The 2023-24 All-Northwest Conference boys basketball teams were voted on by the league coaches and released by the league office Sunday, February 25.
Second-place Bluffton placed one male on the first team, with two others making the second team.
Sharpshooting junior guard Marek Donaldson was named first team all-league.
Senior point guard Wade Ginther and junior wing Blake Sommers made the All-NWC second team.
The Pirates won 12 games in a row at one point, and finished the regular season 17-5 with a 6-2 league mark.
Crestview junior forward Wren Sheets was named NWC Player of the Year. Kevin Sensabaugh was named NWC Coach of the Year after leading the Bearcats to an 8-0 league mark and a second straight outright league title.
