Vixen Hurt ‘25, a social work major from Kenton, Ohio, will present the First Tuesday in the Library Forum, “How Can You Fight Land Injustice,” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Musselman Library Reading Room.

During the presentation, Hurt will recount their work with the “Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery” to promote healing between the Christian church and indigenous people.

Bluffton University will host Radical Reformation Film Festival 2, “Zwingli,” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, in Stutzman Lecture Hall.

This event is part of Anabaptism at 500, a series commemorating the beginning of the Anabaptist faith denomination. A full list of Anabaptism at 500 events can be found at www.bluffton.edu/anabaptism500

Dr. John Fea, distinguished professor of history, Messiah University. will present Bluffton University’s annual Keeney Peace Lecture Forum on Feb. 4.

The 11 a.m. presentation in Bluffton University’s Yoder Recital Hall is titled, “Roads Not Taken: How Evangelicals Embraced MAGA.”

During the event, the author of numerous books on U.S. religious history expands how American evangelicals considered and rejected alternative paths of political witness to the current embrace of fear, power, nostalgia and culture wars.  

Dr. Fea will also present at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, in Ritz Auditorium, Old Main, University of Findlay.

Bluffton’s Keeney Peace Lectureship was established in 1978 by the family of William Sr. and Kathryn Keeney to express appreciation for Bluffton’s influence and to strengthen the continuing peace witness among the community.

Forum provides a public space for interdisciplinary discovery about the personal, local and global challenges faced by students, faculty, staff and the Bluffton community.

A panel of Bluffton University faculty, staff, students and alumni will discuss the meaning of the Anabaptist faith tradition at Forum at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28. 

The panel consists of Micah Dodson ’27, Dr. Melissa Friesen, Bill Hanefeld, Jr. ’05, Dr. Paul Neufeld Weaver ’81 and Deborah Yoder ’23. The panelists will discuss how their lives have been influenced by Anabaptism.

UPDATE The following program has been canceled and Bluffton University campus will be closed on January 21 due to extreme cold weather forecast.

Bethny Ricks ‘06, Bluffton University trustee, senior executive, author and speaker, will present, “Decisive Decision Making: Moving from Stagnation to Action,” at 11 a.m. on Jan. 21 in Yoder Recital Hall.

During the presentation, Ricks will show how to overcome indecision, evaluate options and make impactful choices with confidence.

Bluffton University will host Radical Reformation Film Festival 1, a screening of “Luther,” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, in Stutzman Lecture Hall. The film will be introduced by Dr. Martina Cucchiara, professor of history.

This event is part of Anabaptism at 500, a series commemorating the beginning of the Anabaptist faith denomination.
