Members of the Bluffton University Social Work Club will go trick-or-canning during Bluffton’s trick-or-treat festivities.
Social Work majors will be going door to door asking for donations of canned foods, dried foods and hygiene products from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26.
The club will be collecting nonperishable items only. No monetary donations will be accepted. Donations will be delivered to the Bluffton Community Assistance Corporation food pantry.
Emily Short, a Bluffton University senior, Bible and theology major from Archbold, will present “Seek Justice, Love Kindness, Walk Humbly: Theology in Practice,” during an 11 a.m. Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 7, in Bluffton University’s Musselman Library.
Short will discuss how she took experiences from the classroom and work she had previously done with a summer camps to develop a social-justice-oriented Bible curriculum. Short implemented the curriculum at a camp this past summer.
Bluffton University will present “Music of the Martyrs: A Choral Tapestry,” at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, in Yoder Recital Hall. Directed by Dr. Mark Suderman, the event will feature organist Dr. Shirley Sprunger King from Bluffton’s class of 1967 performing “Singing at the Fire,” a three movement composition by Brent Weaver featuring stories from the “Martyrs Mirror.”
Dr. Sanjay Khare, professor of physics at the University of Toledo, will present the Forum, “Building a Sustainable Energy Future," at 11 a.m. on Nov. 7 in Yoder Recital Hall.
At the University of Toledo, Dr. Khare oversees the department of physics and astronomy. As both the chairman and a professor within the department, Dr. Khare focuses his work on research, teaching, service and outreach.

Bethny Ricks Brown, vice president for human resources at Scotts Miracle-Gro, will present the Forum, “God, Ego and Corporate America," at 11 a.m. on Oct. 24 in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.
Brown is an accomplished human resources professional whose career has spanned across many industries and HR disciplines. Her presentation will highlight and answer the question “When will courage and conviction matter most?”
The Bluffton University women's soccer team stunned Rose-Hulman with a Brittany Huff (Union/Northmont) free kick from beyond midfield for a 1-0 victory on Senior Day! Rose fell to 7-8-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton improved to 3-12 and 2-5 in the HCAC.
