Rev. Joanna Harader, pastor, Peace Mennonite Church, from Lawrence, Kansas, will present the Forum “Expecting Emmanuel: Entering Advent with the Women of Jesus’ Genealogy,” at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29 in Yoder Recital Hall.
The author of a new Advent devotional book shows how the Bible can provide a space for authentic conversations through a discussion of four women from the Hebrew scriptures in Jesus’ genealogy.
Dr. Melissa Friesen, professor of theatre, chose “The Diary of Anne Frank” as this year’s fall play at Bluffton University for both its historical elements and continued importance as a story today.
“The danger of hatred, fascism, political and ideological differences separating society so strongly that some people want to destroy other people, sadly feels very relevant in the world right now,” said Friesen.
Bluffton University has named Brian Williams to the newly created position of Esports coordinator. He will be responsible for the overall direction of Esports at Bluffton including planning, coaching, recruiting and managing the co-ed Esports program, which will be Bluffton's 19th varsity sport starting in the 2023-24 academic year.
A funny thing happened on the way to Bluffton University’s fall 2022 Spiritual Life Week. 2010 alumnus Andrea Flack-Wetherald, a social worker turned improv performer turned best-selling author, served as the guest speaker as students explored Ephesians 4:29-32 and the theme “Let’s Talk… About Building Each Other Up.”
The Bluffton University Board of Trustees met in October for their annual fall meeting. The board welcomed a returning member, toured the Knowlton Science Center construction site and approved new endowments.
