Several spring activities are announced by BFR.

Upcoming Youth sport leagues include U6 Soccer Intramurals and Grades 4-6 Girls Volleyball League. The U6 Soccer program is open to children who turned 4 years by 12/1/09 but were under 6 years of age as of 8/1/09.
This 5 week, introductory soccer league is held on Tuesday and Thursday
evenings from 6-7pm at BFR. Cost per player is $30 ($15 BFR member rate).

Friends of the Bluffton Public Library group will holds its spring book sale from April 12-17 during National Library Week. The sale will take place at Bluffton Public Library during regular library hours: Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hardbound and paperback books in good condition are being accepted for the sale, as well as original copies of audiovisual material (audio books, compact disks, videocassettes, and DVDs).

You are invited to join community members at Common Grounds on Wednesday, April 14, at 6 p.m. to discuss "Handle with Care" by Jodi Picoult. The discussion is hosted by Bluffton Public Library staff. Please call the library at 419-358-5016 or stop by the library to register for the discussion. A limited supply of discussion copies is available.

Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera's Maundy Thursday service on April 1 will begin at 7 p.m. Pastor Al Schmitzer will deliver the sermon and the choir will sing "Jesus Paid it All" and "Eat This Bread."

The current generation of video game consoles has teamed up with the internet to deliver a new (to consoles, at least) medium known as Downloadable Content (DLC). Sometimes DLC is a whole game-albeit usually much smaller in scale than a full retail release-and sometimes it's an addition to an existing game.

The Bluffton Brass Quintet will play at the 10:15 a.m. service at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church on Easter Sunday, April 4. Members from left are, Travis Unterbrink, trumpet; Marilyn Edwards, french horn; Tom Miller, tuba; Greg Mohr, trombone; Dave Sycks, trumpet.

Several projects are on the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce's plate this spring, according to Fred Steiner, chamber CEO. In addition, other several other projects are in the planning stages.

Sunday night supper at the Pannabecker homestead always meant popcorn, veggies, fruit, cheese, and once in awhile...pop or milkshakes. Growing up in the 50s-60s-70s was the era of family-style eating, something that many of today's family find simply impossible. And yes, that probably ages me. So what?

They say that to be happy and positive, one must surround oneself with happy and positive people. Don't ask me who "they" are. I only know that I keep reading this -- as if the statement was directed toward me. I'm not the most positive person in the world; the optimist in me is frequently overcome by the pessimist.
