In conjunction with the Wheels Festival, Bluffton Presbyterian Church will be serving a chicken/pulled pork dinner on the church lawn at the corner of Main and Cherry Streets on Friday, June 15, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The cost of the dinner will be $7 and will include a choice of roast chicken or pulled pork from Ted's Market in Pandora, with sides of cheesy potatoes, green beans and a dinner roll.
The following items will be in the silent auction at the Relay for Life held June 22, at Salzman Stadium on the campus of Bluffton University.
The auction will open at 6 p.m. and will close at 10:30 p.m. You do not need to be present at the close of the auction to claim your purchase.
A member of Trinity Lutheran Church team will contact auction winners on Saturday and/or at a later date to make arrangements for deliver or pick-up of the item you purchased.
Irene E. Althaus, 68, of Bluffton died at 8:44 p.m. June 2, 2012 at Bluffton Hospital. She was born Oct. 23, 1943 in Bluffton to Ambert and Edna Bower Basinger. On Jan. 20, 1967 she married Jerry Althaus and he survives.
Mrs. Althaus retired from the Bluffton Public Schools where she was the Elementary School secretary for 25 years. She had also been a telephone operator for the Bluffton Telephone Co and had served on the Bluffton EMS. She was a member of the English Lutheran Church, Bluffton, a graduate of Bluffton High School and attended Bluffton College.

Friday afternoon, around 3 p.m., my cell phone rang. It was Bluffton Police Officer Rhodes. He told me that he spotted two American Bald Eagles in the field across the Maple Crest and wondered if I was interested.
Before his statement was finished I had grabbed my camera and was heading out the door. On my way the cell phone rang again. It was Lynda Best. Her husband saw the eagles and called her. She call me, too.
I have a 300 mm zoom lens for bird watching, so I figured where ever these birds were I could locate them.

The girls team finished 4th in Division III, scoring 24 points. On the way to state, the girls' team won the district meet and was runner-up in the regional meet.

First Mennonite Church will begin its summer schedule Sunday, June 3. Worship begins at 9:15 a.m. Christian Education for children begins at 10:30. Coffee/social time precedes youth and adult Christian Education which begins at 10:45. All are welcome.
J'aime Stratton, class owner and instructor of Jazzercise in Bluffton is offering a summer special. The special is $75 for unlimited classes for new customers from June through Labor Day.
