Timothy G. Downey, 65, of Weston, Ohio, died Sunday, June 10, 2012. He was born in Bluffton, Ohio, to Marion and Mary Elizabeth (Amstutz) Downey. He married Debra McKibben of Bluffton, on March 27, 1970, in First Mennonite Church.

He graduated from Allen East High School in 1965 and served two years in the U.S. Army in Germany. He attended Bowling Green State University where he was a member of the gymnastics team.

He was employed by the City of Bowling Green as an electrical lineman and later electrical supervisor. He was also a part-time farmer.

A dinner and concert is planned at the Pleasant View United Methodist Church, Mt. Cory, according to Jerry Lewis, pastor.

A spaghetti, salad, dessert and beverage meal for a donation will take place at the church from 5 to 6:15 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m. The Scioto Ridge Boys Quartet from Powell, will perform a concert. A freewill offering will be received. Proceeds from the event will go toward local missions.

The church is located at 300 Township Road 37.

The American flags are displayed along Main Street, Bluffton, and there is still time to sponsor a flag.

The S.H.A.N.N.O.N. (Sharing Hopes And Nourishing Needs Of Neighbors) Service Club of Bluffton is still accepting donations for the Main Street Flag Fund.

With each donation of $25, persons may name someone who you wish to honor or memorialize.

BFR Sports & Fitness is hosting an adult rec basketball league on Thursday evenings from June 21 to July 19. The fee is $100 a team. Call 419-358-4150 for more information, according to Amy Byers, sports coordinator at BFR.

The churches of Pandora and Gilboa are offering food boxes for households in the Pandora-Gilboa School District. The boxes are designed to provide nine meals for a family of four.

In order to pick up a box, persons must register by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 18, by calling 419-384-3905 and giving your phone number and name.

Boxes will be available for pickup on Saturday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at the Pandora United Methodist Church located on State Route 12.

The sixth annual Relay for Life pie auction takes place at 7:45 p.m., Friday, June 22, at Bluffton University's Salzman Stadium.

In 2006, the first Relay for Life Pie auction was held and it has been an annual event ever since. The pies are judged with the first three places being announced as the pies are auctioned.

Janet Triplett

Janet S. Triplett, 61,of Bluffton died at 8:10 a.m. June 11, 2012, at her brother's residence. She was born Oct. 3, 1950, in Bluffton to J. Newlin and Elsie Mae (Hartman) Habegger. She had previously been married to Raymond Scoles and later married Charles Triplett and he survives in Lima.

Mrs. Triplett was a homemaker. She had worked at Bluffton Hospital, Bluffton Dairy Freeze, Terry's Drive-In, Bluffton News and Triplett Corporation, Bluffton. She was a member of Lima Baptist Temple and was a 1969 Bluffton High School graduate.

The Bluffton High School Class of 1971 held its 41st year class reunion, on Saturday, June 9, at the Bluffton town hall.

Bluffton Hospital associates are participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and have formed a team known as The Bluffton Cancer Crushers.

To raise money for this cause, the team is holding a basket raffle. Several baskets are on display in the front lobby of the Bluffton Hospital from June 11 to June 18.

Participants in the raffle may purchase a ticket and place it in the jar of the basket of their choice. Ticket are: $1 for 1, $5 for six, and $10 for an arms length.

A memorial service for Lois Jean Hoover Triplett will take place on Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at the Bluffton Presbyterian Church, 112 N. Main Street. Rev. Dr. Matthew Zuehlke will lead the service. Light refreshments and a time of fellowship will follow.

Mrs. Triplett, of Bluffton, Ohio, died on Friday, May 4, 2012. She was born in Rittman, Ohio, on Oct. 18, 1926, the daughter of Lloyd and Zelda Hoover. She was a 1947 graduate of Bluffton College. On July 18, 1948, she married M. Morris Triplett, who predeceased her in 1996.
