George R. Huser, 82 died at 12:40 p.m. Dec. 19, 2012 at Bluffton Hospital. 

He was born December 24, 1929 in Pandora to Philemon and Elizabeth (Basinger) Huser.  He married Ann Dearth who survives in Charleston, SC and they were divorced.  In June 1983 he married Rachel Hoffer and she died in August 2010.

He had been a self-employed painter and had worked for Rusco Industries, Meadville, PA.  He had retired from McIntosh, Bluffton. 

He had attended Riley Creek United Methodist Church and Pandora United Methodist Church.

Jerry Lee Marshall, 73, died at 12:15 a.m. Dec. 20, 2012, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. He was born August 22, 1939, in Mt. Blanchard, Ohio, to the late Frank “Pete” and Eva (Bame) Marshall. 

On March 16, 1958, he married Saundra “Becky” Anspach at United Methodist Church, Forest, and she survives. They were married for 54 years.

The name will remain, the personal service will continue, but the ownership of Greg’s Pharmacy will change on Jan. 1.

Greg Conkling announced today (Dec. 20) that he will sell his Main Street Bluffton pharmacy to Clark’s Rx, an independent pharmacy with several other southwestern Ohio locations, headquartered in the Dayton area.

New owners are Tim Clark, third generation pharmacist with Clark’s Rx, and Mark BonDurant, also a pharmacist.

Elders are beginning to make Willow Ridge Green Houses their homes. The first elders moved to Willow Ridge on Nov. 26.

George R. Huser, 82 died Dec. 19, 2012 at Bluffton Hospital.  A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Pandora United Methodist Church. 

Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton, and one hour prior to the service at the church.

The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University will hold six noncredit certification classes beginning in January. Classes are free and open to the public, and all events begin at 6:30 p.m.

Classes range in length from one to six weeks, and each class focuses on general topics relating to the development of a business. The classes range from exploring self-employment to computer literacy.

 

The Bluffton University women’s basketball team suffered a tough defeat (95-62) at #11 Thomas More on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

The Saints opened the game on a 10-2 run and never looked back. Thomas More led 50-32 at the break even though Bluffton knocked down 10-of-21 from the field (47.6 percent) in the first 20 minutes.

The Beavers came out in the second half and battled, but the home team proved to be too much as Thomas More won the game in convincing fashion, 95-62.

 

On Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, the Bluffton University Beavers gave themselves an early Chrsitmas present and came out with a 62-50 victory over the Indiana University-Kokomo Cougars at the Sommer Center.

The Bluffton men improved to 3-6 on the season with the win, while the Cougars fell to 5-7 on the season. The Beavers were led by senior Dustin Kinn (Alvada/New Riegel) who scored 22 points on 8-for-10 shooting and grabbed nine boards in the victory.
