The Bluffton Area Ministerial Association has organized Good Friday activities for the Bluffton community.
On Good Friday, March 29, all are welcome to the annual Cross Walk. This year the walk begins at English Lutheran Church at 11:30 a.m. From there the walk proceeds to St. John's UCC, Bluffton Presbyterian, First Mennonite, First Methodist and ends at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Dennis Morrison of Bluffton, will give a presentation on “30 years of metal detecting,” during the noon, Tuesday, April 2, Bluffton Lions Club meeting. The meeting is in the Patio Room of Maple Crest.
Donald L. Crawfis, 83, of Ocala, Florida, and formerly of Rawson, Ohio, died at 1:20 p.m. March 18, 2013, at Legacy Hospice House, Ocala, Florida. He was born Feb. 27, 1930, in Leipsic, Ohio, to the late Bracy and Zella (Clapp) Crawfis. He married Carol Lippert and she survives in Ocala.
A Mom-to-Mom Sale is planned Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to noon at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, 8905 Columbus Grove Road, Bluffton.
The sale will feature baby items, infant, children and maternity clothes along with other
items pertaining to children. Admission is $2 or two canned good items which, will be donated to the Bluffton Food Pantry.
How about a chicken or shrimp dinner and all the music you can eat? It's Friday at the Bluffton Middle School. It's the Bluffton Music Boosters annual barbecue with plenty of foodand lots of musical preformances.
Tickets are still on sale at the middle school office for $7.50 each. Tickets offered include a choice of either a 7-piece shrimp dinner or a chicken barbecue dinner. Dinners are available for take out or eat in. Tickets will be available on Friday at the door depending upon availability.
Dinners are served in the middle school cafetorium from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Christians need to live their beliefs in order to change a criminal justice system that continues to punish offenders after they’ve served prison sentences.
Bringing that message to Bluffton University March 19 was a Mennonite pastor who also has personal experience with the system she hopes to see reformed.

-Police responded to a non-injury traffic crash on NB I-75 at Mile Post 141 where a vehicle driven by Steven Mays, 60, Elida lost control on ice and spun into the median striking the wire barrier.
Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs has announced prize money, seminar dates and major sponsors for the first-ever Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition.
First place prize is $5,000 in business start-up costs and a one-year BCE client program membership. Second place is $1,000 in start-up costs and a one-year BCE client program membership. Third place is a one-year BCE client program membership.

"American is a Hankish Ice Cream Cone." To an eariler Bluffton generation, that statement rings true. The Icon discovered this photo in its archives. Our best guess is that it's a 1976 bicentennial parade.
Perhaps it was photographed from the town hall looking across at what is now Smith's Realty.
Any ideas on the ID of the driver of the float, or any of the kids on the curb are welcome. If the photo was taken in 1976, some of the youth might be in their 40s.
