Icon viewers:
Did you know the rails ran right down the center on Main St? I grew on 668 S Main in the 1920s, Watching for the trains was a big excitement. Played 'hide and seek' running with the freight car across the street to a new destination.Watched for the group of new cars being driven from Detroit to unknown. What wonderful memories!

2014 will be remembered for several things, but the thing most area residents will remember is the “Winter of 2014.”

Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer, provided The Icon with the 2014 summary with comparisons back to 2006.

Here’s some of the 2014 weather highlights:
• Snowfall recorded at 59.7 inches was more than 22 inches higher than the yearly normal average of 37.10 inches.

• The 2014 average temperature of 48.1 degrees was below the 50.3 degree yearly average temperature.

Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce members will hear about the centennial of the Dixie Highway in 2015 from Bluffton area resident Scott Little.

The route of the Dixie Highway is Main Street in Bluffton and much of the village’s rich history has been closely connected to this most historic route.

The holidays ended and a blah Sunday set in.

The only thing we can think to do in a situation like this is to bake. But what? With the Duke Ellington Orchestra playing in the background, in my attempt to inspire creativity, we blindly took one of the bread books off the shelf.

Here’s what opened: We’ll call it “Miniature Icon Benne Biscuits.”

Here’s how you get to Point Biscuit from Point A:
