Lynnita Linda (Swank) Millay, 74, of Jenera died Thursday morning, May 14, 2015, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. She was born March 1, 1941, in Bluffton to Bertrand and Juanita (Lora) Swank.  She married Marvin Millay on Jan. 30, 1981,  and he survives.

Orletta M. Templin, 92, of Bluffton died May 13, 2015, at 10:50 a.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. She was born Dec. 16, 1922, in Hillsboro, Kansas, to the late Edward and Frieda Kessler Warkentin. On June 4, 1947, she married Lawrence Templin and he survives. 

She graduated from Lehigh High School, Lehigh, Kansas, and Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. She was a teacher at Goessel High School, Goessel, Kansas, and retired from the library at Bluffton College. 

Dumpsters are filling up at the Spring Street Recycle Center.

The village placed two dumpsters center on Friday and both were completely overflowing by Saturday.

Those dumpster will be replace and residents of the village may continue to dump appropriate trash there until Monday, May 25. Items not accepted include hazardous including paint and motor oil, vehicle batteries and tire.

Appliances that use Freon will not be accepted unless it is certified that the Freon has been legally removed and disposed of. The dumpsters are for village residents only.

The Bluffton middle school orchestras participated in OMEA's Large Group Adjudicated Event on May 15 at Parkway High School.

Bluffton 6th Grade String Orchestra performed in class 'C' with 'Dragon Slayer' by Rob Grice, 'Clog Dance' by Elliot Del Borgo and 'Main Street March' by Robert Frost.  The group received an 'Excellent' rating.

Bluffton Police Department is reminding motorists to Click It or Ticket.

As part of the national seat belt enforcement campaign, law enforcement agencies around the country will be stepping up enforcement May 18 to 31, just ahead of one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. 

“Every day, unbuckled motorists are losing their lives in motor vehicle crashes,” said Sergeant Matt Oglesbee. “As we approach Memorial Day weekend and the summer vacation season, we want to make sure people are doing the one thing that can save them in a crash, buckling up.”

It's Arts and Crafts Show Saturday.

This year’s event includes 85 booths featuring area crafters plus Bluffton businesses. The show, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. will stretch along Main Street from Elm Street to the post office.

Here’s what the day involves:
• Booths on Main Street, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Farmers’ market from 8:30 a.m. to noon
• Pony rides at south end of Main, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Local food vendors, during the day
• Entertainment, late morning and early afternoon

Chris Justus is the Bluffton High School student of the month for May. 

Chris, son of Shawn Justus and the late Vivia Justus, is a senior at Bluffton HS. His grade point average is 3.154. Chris has been a member of the Bluffton High School football team for the past three seasons. He also played on the basketball team.

College scholarships and many special awards were announced during the 35th annual Bluffton High School academic awards program held May 13 in the middle school cafetorium.

Audrey Bowsher is the 2015 winner of the Barbara Fleming Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, Bluffton and Pandora (MHCO). 

Audrey will graduate from Spencerville High School and Apollo Career Center. She plans to attend Pensacola Christian College in the fall, pursuing a degree in nursing. 

She is the daughter of Ron and Cindy Bowsher of Spencerville. She is the granddaughter of Larry and Ginny Moser of rural Columbus Grove and of the late Layton and Ruth Bowsher.
