BLUFFTON, Ohio - A 6-1 finish to the week in Florida propelled the Bluffton University softball team to a sweep of the Heartland Conference Player of the Week awards for the week ending Sunday, March 13. Josie McElroy (Mt. Orab/Western Brown) raked her way to Hitter of the Week honors, while fellow sophomore Nicole Thomas (Tontogany/Otsego) was nearly untouchable in the circle en route to Pitcher of the Week acclaim.
Bluffton University Head Coach Chad Shutler has been named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year following a record-shattering 2015-16 women's basketball campaign for the Beavers.
He was honored by D3hoops.com less than two weeks after being selected the Heartland Conference Coach of the Year. It marks the first time in Bluffton women's basketball history for both of those honors.

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) and Jerry Lewis’ McDonald’s host their annual Easter egg hunt at Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.
The egg hunt will take place rain or shine. There is no rain date. Children ages 8 and under are invited to hunt for hidden eggs, register for prizes, gift baskets and have their parents take their pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Bluffton High School graduate and Eastern Mennonite University senior, Hannah Chappell-Dick, saved her best for last. Running in her final collegiate mile race Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Indoor National Championships, Chappell-Dick passed two runners over the final lap to pull away to her second straight silver-medal finish on the big stage.
Along with the second-place finish, Chappell-Dick broke her own EMU and ODAC records with a time of 4:54.32.

Author, blogger, activist and professor Dr. Drew G.I. Hart will present “What has Shalom to do with White Dominant Culture?” during Forum at 11 a.m. on March 29 in Founders Hall. This is the 2016 Keeney Peace Lecture at Bluffton University. The event is free and open to the public.
Hart recently earned his doctorate in theology and ethics from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. During his presentation, Hart will weave his pastoral experience with his academic training to challenge the Church to pursue practices that make for justice.
