Five Bluffton Boy Scouts are involved in Eagle Scout projects this fall, according to Mike Metzger, Bluffton scoutmaster.

Metzger said that the requirements to achieve Eagle Scout include a series of advancements, the earning of at least 21 merit badges, and evidence of leadership skills.
Lincolnview won the boys' championship and Columbus Grove won the girls' title in the Northwest Conference cross country meet run Saturday morning in Columbus Grove.
Bluffton finished sixth overall in the boys' standings and did not enter a girls' team.
Crestview finished second in both races. Columbus Grove (boys) and Lincolnview (girls) took third place finishes. Junior High races were won by Columbus Grove (boys) and Crestview (girls).
Twylah Lavon Ludwig, 96, died Oct. 17, 2016, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. Twylah was born June 25, 1920, in Bairdstown, Ohio, to the late Arthur and Edna Pearl (Koons) Carnicom. On May 8, 1948, she married Frederick Ludwig who preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1975.
Twylah retired from Triplett Corporation, Bluffton after 38 years. She was a member of Bluffton Presbyterian Church. Twylah was a graduate of Bloomdale High School.

Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, will inform Bluffton council of the fall leaf plan at Monday’s council meeting. The entire Monday agenda is in an attachment at the bottom of this story.
Weather always dictates when the village launches its fall leaf pick-up. Mehaffie, said that it’s likely to begin the last week of October.
“As grass mowing slows down, leaf pick up increases,” he said, anticipating that it will continue through November.
After the leaf pick-up concludes, village employees will turn their focus on cleaning out catch basins.

Look who just earned a Northwest Conferece trophy!
The Bluffton High School girls' soccer team claimed the Northwest Conference title Thursday night with a 5-1 victory over second place Delphos Jefferson.
Senior Sarah Theisen scored two goals for the evening, Freshman Kayla White also scored two and one assist; one of her goals on a header off the assist by senior Brooke Koontz, and senior captain Abbie Parkins scored one goal as well as an assist.
