Following by soup luncheon benefit for C-R student

Pleasant View and Mount Cory United Methodist  churches will hold a special combined service on Sunday, April 23, according to Mark Fuerstenau, pastor.

The 10 a.m. service at Pleasant View UM Church, 300 Township Road 300,
Bluffton, will include a "Blessings of the tractors" in the church parking lot.

Area farmers are invited to drive their tractors to church.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Pleasant View will host a soup luncheon with the proceeds to benefit Cory-Rawson elementary student, Ahlora Riker, who suffers
from a rare form of cancer.

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Bluffton bats were silent as Mount St. Joseph swept a pair of games in Cincinnati on a warm Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Bluffton fell to 17-12 overall and 3-8 in the Heartland Conference, while MSJ improved to 20-10 and 8-2 in the HCAC.

The Addams Family -BHS school musical - this weekend

The Addams Family musical comes to the middle school stage this weekend in a show featuring every father's nightmare.

Performances are 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22, and at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 23. Kara Zink directs the performances. Tickets are on sale in the middle school office during school hours. Reserved seated at $10 and general admission tickets are $5.

Open house Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Bluffton University’s Lion and Lamb Peace Arts Center will host an open house to celebrate 30 years of promoting peace from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, April 20.

A brief program of music and reflection will be held at 4 p.m. in the Honda Outdoor Sculpture Garden.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Lion and Lamb Peace Arts Center promotes the study of peace and justice, cultural understanding and nonviolent responses to conflict with an emphasis on these themes for children.

Bluffton University students will be selling original pieces of pottery in the Sauder Visual Arts Center Friday and Saturday, April 21-22, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Profits from each sale will be given to the artist.

Biographical information on each artist will be displayed alongside their pieces. The sale is open to the public. Persons may use the Spring Street parking lot when attending the sale.
 

Treva M. Sousley, 91, of Bluffton,died at 2:25 a.m., April 19, 2017 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.  Treva was born Dec. 15, 1925 in Beaverdam to the late Walter M. and Luella M. (Steiner) Hochstettler.  On April 1, 1945, she married Ralph R. Sousley of Ada and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1995.

Treva was a life-long member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton.  She was always active in the church and Sunday School until Ralph passed away.  Treva graduated from Bluffton High School in 1943 and was a homemaker.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University baseball team matched up with rival Defiance for the second straight week and although the venue changed the end result was the same as the Beavers dropped a 7-2 decision at Rutter Field. Defiance improved to 10-19 on the season and 7-9 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton fell to 11-17 and 4-12 in the HCAC following its ninth straight loss.

Luke Keuneke and Nick Recker win BCE business plan competition

Earlier this spring, Luke Keuneke and Nick Recker of Cutting Edge WoodKRaft, won the $4,000 first place cash prize in the 2017 Bluffton Center for Entrepreneur’s Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition.

Two words describe their business: Custom woodworking.
