Bluffton Hospital has been recognized by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) as a top 20 hospital for patient satisfaction.

The ranking is based on data compiled by iVantage Health Analytics.

"We are so proud to be ranked highly in these measures," said Chris Keller, Bluffton Hospital chief administrative officer.

ArtSpace/Lima will host an opening reception for Spring Show 2017 on Friday, April 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  The reception is free and open to the public.

Spring Show 2017 is the 62nd edition of ArtSpace’s signature exhibit.  

Blanchard Valley Hospital's (BVH) Vascular Laboratory has been reaccredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). The vascular lab uses non- invasive ultrasound testing to help diagnose a variety of vascular conditions.

This accreditation recognizes labs that provide a high level of patient care and quality testing when diagnosing vascular disease. To receive accreditation, BVH underwent detailed evaluations of facility operations and a comprehensive application process. The accreditation is valid for three years.

David K. Leiber, 57, of Bluffton, died April 17, 2017, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.  David was born Nov. 14, 1959, in Bluffton to Donald and Lola (Dangler) Leiber. 

David graduated from Bluffton High School. He had been a farmer and also worked as a mechanic at Leiber Garage in Bluffton and OH Materials in Findlay.  He had attended Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton, enjoyed vacationing especially near the beach and spending time with family and friends.

Concert Sunday evening at Lima Senior

Four Bluffton students will perform with the Lima Area Youth Orchestra on Sunday, April 23. The 7 p.m. concert is at Lima Senior High School.

Members from Bluffton are:
• Violins: Isaac Andreas, Amanda Speicher, Grace Paquin
• Cello: Alyssa Speicher

The performance will be under the direction of Travis Juergen, Assistant Professor at Ohio Northern University. Juergen is very successfully finishing his first season with the orchestra which is sponsored by the Lima Noon Optimist Club and the Lima Symphony Orchestra.

Bluffton for Hope (Relay for Life) is accepting garage sale items fo its Saturday, May 6, garage sale at the high school parking lot.

Justin Haggard gold medalist at Napoleon

Bluffton High’s boys' tennis team won its seventh straight contest this week, beating Kenton 3-2.

Bluffton won three single sets and Kenton won two double sets. The box score is attached.

Earlier Bluffton won the Napoleon tennis tourney, over Napoleon, Wauseon and Elida.

Bluffton’s Justin Haggard remained undefeated and was gold medalist winner at first singles.

Trevor Bunch and Ryan Sprague won first doubles, Levi Mikesell and Jaret Geiser took the silver in second doubles.

Third doubles of Tad Steiner and Jake Staley took silver.

The Pandora United Methodist Church will host a free community meal on Wednesday,  April 26,  from 5:30 to 7 pm. in the church fellowship hall, 108 E. Washington Street, Pandora. 

The meal this month is provided by Pandora-Gilboa Student Council.  The menu will be tacos, refried beans, salad, cookies, and beverage.

Jason Bracy winning pitcher

The Bluffton High School baseball team moved to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the NWC as it doubled the score on Ada, winning 12-5, earlier this week. Jason Bracy (2-0) was the winning pitcher.

Bluffton also beat Carey in a non-conference game 11-5. Aaron Belcher (1-1) was the winning pitcher.

Abbie Parkins has 6 RBIs

Bluffton High School's softball team bombed Ada 17-1 earlier this week. The win moved the Pirates to 8-2 overall and 1-2 in the NWC.

Several Pirates has great game stats, which are listed in the box score attached at the bottom of this story.
