Paul I. Dyck, 93, of Bluffton died April 13, 2019. He was born on Jan 14, 1926, in Olds, Alberta, Canada. He married Lois Mae (Bartel) Dyck on Aug. 14, 1956 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 8, 2005.
After completing undergraduate (Bethel College, Kansas) and seminary training (Chicago Theological Seminary), he and his wife moved to India in 1956 with their two young sons, to serve as missionaries with the Mennonite Mission Board.
State Representative Riordan McClain will address Bluffton University’s 2019 graduating class during the Sunday, May 5, commencement ceremony in the Sommer Center.
McClain, a 2006 alumnus, is serving his first full term in the Ohio House of Representatives, having been appointed in January 2018 during the 132nd General Assembly. He represents the 87th House District, which includes Wyandot, Crawford and Morrow counties, as well as portions of Marion and Seneca counties.
Bluffton Paving is busy this month with three area Ohio Department of Transportation projects in the area.
ODOT reports the following projects performed by the Bluffton company:
• State Route 65 between Fourth Street and Elm Street, Lima, will be restricted to one lane of through traffic in each direction through the work zone for pavement resurfacing beginning Wednesday, April 24.
Jean Ann Stratton 82, died on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at 1:20 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born on June 20, 1936, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Oliver and Clara (Wilson) Amstutz. On May 22, 1954, Jean married Rolla M. Stratton Sr. and he preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2015.

Meghan Gibson ’19, a music major with a concentration in performance studies, will pursue a Master of Music following her May graduation from Bluffton at NYU Steinhardt. Gibson a Pandora native will focus on music theatre performance.
“If you’re going to do musical theater, and most music in general, you want to go where the business is,” explained Gibson. “So for the business of musical theatre, that’s Broadway or the other option would be Chicago. But New York is where it’s at.”

BLUFFTON - Visiting Archbold shut out Bluffton 5-0 in boys tennis action Thursday evening.
The Blue Streaks won four of the five matches without dropping a single game. Pirate Drew Wilson lost 6-4, 6-3 at first singles to post the best Bluffton showing.

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton outlasted Paulding 11-9 in an early-season Northwest Conference softball showdown of league leaders Thursday evening.
The first-place Lady Pirates improved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in league play with the win, while the Panthers fell to 7-2 and 2-1 in the NWC after the defeat.
Bluffton hurler Libby Schaadt improved her record to 8-1 on the strength of a complete-game effort by scattering 10 hits. She struck out one Panther and walked four. Only three of the Panther runs were earned.
