Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO), St. John Mennonite Church of Pandora, and The Swiss Community Historical Society (SCHS) have received a bequest from the estate of Arthur E. Gratz of Pandora.
Gratz, 84, died on Octo 22, 2018 at Hilty Memorial Home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Kline Gratz.
Mary Ann Jordan, 83, died July 2, 2019, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Mary Ann was born Aug. 30, 1935 in Bluffton, Ohio, to the late Clarence and Geneva (Reichenbach) Fleming. On Sept. 17, 1956, she married Richard "Dick" H. Jordan who preceded her in death on March 8, 2019.
Trinity Lutheran School, in Jenera, will host a “Miraculous Mission: Jesus Saves the World” Vacation Bible School from Sunday, July 14, through Thursday, July 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. The school is located at 105 Allen Street, Jenera.
Apollo Career Center will begin the 2019-20 school year with new leadership in key positions.
Tasha Sheipline, adult education director, has been selected as the high school director, over-seeing instructional and supervisory staff, curriculum, discipline, and the entire high school experience for students while they attend Apollo.
David Dean Augsburger, 83, died July 2, 2019, at Lima Memorial Health System. David was born June 14, 1936, in Bluffton to the late Leonard and Ruth (Sommer) Augsburger. He had been married to Kathryn Skobler Goodin.
David graduated from Pandora High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked at the Lima Ford Engine Plant where he was a computer electronics specialist. David was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church in Bluffton. He was an avid outdoorsman and nature lover.
Kathleen requests that instead of gifts to her, persons make donations to the Bluffton Community Assistance food pantry at the St. John's United Church of Christ.
Kathleen Mikkelsen will blow out a birthday cake with 102 candles on July 3.
The resident of Mennonite Memorial Home grew up on South Main Street, Bluffton, and graduated in the BHS class of 1935.
Although in 1939 she married and moved from Bluffton, she never left home.

The Bluffton Lions Foundation will host the Fifth Annual Ride to Remember on Saturday, July 20. Several routes will be offered, ranging in distance from the 2-mile Town Loop to the 112-mile Triplett Challenge. Proceeds from the ride will benefit the Bluffton Pathways Project.
“Last year, we drew more than 200 riders,” said Dick Ramseyer, chair of the event. “We hope to add even more riders this year and are offering a lot of perks to attract them.”
