A mandatory fall sports player/parent meeting for 7th to 12th grade students and a parent takes place in Bluffton High School at 7 p.m, Monday, July 29. Athletes must have up-to-date physicals before they may start practice on Aug. 1.

County Line Church of the Brethren is hosting a Vacation Bible School program next week, Monday through Friday, July 22-26, from 6 to 8 p.m.
This year's theme is "To Mars and Beyond," where kids become space voyagers and explore the power of God, based off of Ephesians 3:20: "Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us."
Emmanuel United Church of Christ is holding their annual Ice Cream Social on Friday, Aug. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. All are encouraged to attend, whether it's for dinner or just ice cream.
The menu includes shredded chicken or sloppy joe sandwiches, chicken noodles , baked beans, a variety of salads, pies and cakes, plus beverages and, of course, ice cream.
The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children (ages 10 and under).
Bluffton Family Recreation’s kid’s summer camp for next week is Healthy Habits, which runs from July 22-26. The registration deadline for next week's camp is Friday, July 19.
A group of churches in Bluffton are conducting a Community VBS program next week, July 21-25, at St. John's United Church of Christ from 6 to 8 p.m.
This year's theme "Hero Central" allows kids to be superheroes and discover their strengths in God. This five-day program, running Sunday through Thursday, will be packed with songs, fun, games and bible stories. This VBS program is for youth ages four through fifth grade.

Carolyn Elizabeth Rettig, 82, of rural Bluffton, died at 5:54 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. Carolyn was born on June 15, 1937, in Dola, Ohio, to Willard and Fairy (Wilch) Neff. She graduated from Cory-Rawson in May 1955.
Bluffton resident Geneva (Stamm) Shetler celebrated her 100th birthday on July 8 with a family celebration.
A retired Bluffton elementary teacher, she taught third grade for several years in the 1970s.
Geneva was born on a farm near Archbold and graduated from Archbold High School in 1936. She attended Goshen College, Indiana, where she met her husband-to-be, Luther Shetler. They were married in 1940.
The couple was married 78 years. Luther died July 1, 2017.
The Shetlers moved to Bluffton in 1950, where Luther began teaching at Bluffton College.
