Bluffton Farmers Market is the place to be on Saturday mornings in town. According to the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, our town "boasts the best farmers market in northwest Ohio."
In celebration of our small but mighty farmers market, the Icon will be featuring a market vendor each week over the course of the summer.
This week's feature vendor is My Own Back Yard Herbs & Flowers.

ELIDA - The Bluffton boys soccer team scored four goals in the first eight minutes and rolled to a 10-0 blowout win over Evergreen Thursday evening in the semifinals of the Kickoff Tournament at Elida.
The Pirates improved to 2-0 with their second straight shutout win. They play an opponent TBA in the Kickoff tourney finals Saturday.
Following a vote of league coaches, Transylvania University was selected to repeat as Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Champions in the 2019 Volleyball Preseason Poll.
Bluffton is predicted a fourth place finish.
The Pioneers earned nine first place votes, with 99 points. Transy had an impressive 2018 campaign, with a 15-11 overall record and a league mark of 8-1 that clinched the HCAC Regular Season title.

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will host “Allergy, Asthma & Lung Health,” a presentation of the “Live and Learn” series, to educate the community about allergens affecting the lungs as well as asthma triggers and symptoms.
This event is Thursday, Sept. 12 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Marathon Auditorium of Blanchard Valley Hospital, 1900 S. Main St., Findlay. A boxed lunch will be provided during the event.
Ohio Department of Transportation provided the following schedule of work planned for the week beginning Monday, Aug. 26. Some of it affects local traffic patterns.
Interstate 75 between the Stewart Road overpass and Napoleon Road, between the city of Lima and the village of Beaverdam, will be restricted to one lane in both directions for a pavement resurfacing project.
Bluffton Lions Club members will hold eye screening for Kindergarteners and pre-school youth Sept. 23 through Oct. 3. That announcement is one of several news items in the current Lions Club newsletter, attached below.

LUNCH INFORMATION: A school lunch costs $2.50 and extra milk is 50 cents. The lunch menu will be sent home with students but parents may also view it on our website.
Randal L. Anderson, 63, died on Aug. 21, 2019. at his home. Randy was born June 2, 1956, in Bluffton to the late James and Esther (Schumacher) Anderson.
On Oct. 28, 1978, he married Kimberly Acheson Anderson who survives.
Randy graduated from Cory-Rawson High School in 1974. He co-owned Anderson Tractor Supply in Bluffton with his brother, Gary, for the past 43 years. Randy was a member of Bethel Church of Christ, Ada, where he had been a deacon, Sunday School teacher and head of the Missions Committee.
In the 2019 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) men’s and women’s cross country preseason polls, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is the overwhelming favorite for the men, while the tighter women’s race saw Manchester University emerge as the winner.
In the women’s poll the top three teams were separated by only 10 points, while all three received first-place votes.
The Spartans claimed the top spot with 74 points and five first place nods.
