Robert John Braden, 88, of Bluffton and formerly Port Clinton, Ohio, died Nov. 22, 2019, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Robert was born July 19, 1931, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Robert and Ethel (Whalen) Braden.  On Sept. 28, 1952, he married Jean Braden who preceded him in death on May 23, 2019.

Bluffton Public Library announces December 2019 events and services.

Santa's fire truck returns for the holiday season on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. No registration is necessary, bring the whole family to listen to a holiday-themed storytime led by the Bluffton Fire Department and get pictures with our special guest afterwards.

Visit the library on Fridays, Dec. 6, 13, and 20 for winter crafts. Come in anytime during open hours and take advantage of our winter themed craft-making stations.

Glen Guyton's address is Tuesday morning in Yoder Recital Hall

Glen Guyton, executive director, Mennonite Church USA, will provide a Bluffton University Forum presentation, “Living Well. Living My IDEAL Life,” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, in Yoder Recital Hall.

The denominational leader and cultural competency advocate will offer practical tips on how to live your best life while navigating today’s culture and responding to the divine call.

As a cultural competency advocate, Guyton has made it his mission to help organizations and individuals navigate the complex nature of culture.

The Bluffton University football team saw nine members earn All-Heartland Conference honors when the post-season hardware.

Junior Antonio Crossty (Wooster) was a First Team selection while five Beavers were selected to the Second Team. Bluffton also had three members named Honorable Mention All-HCAC.

Mercy Health has expanded access for outpatient ultrasound imaging to Mercy Health – Wapakoneta Imaging Services, 1015 South Blackhoof St., Suite D.. Other locations include Mercy Health – Putnam County MedicalCenter and Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center.

BLUFFTON - Several Bluffton student-athletes earned All-Northwest Conference scholar-athlete honors for fall sports in 2019.

Students must carry at least a 3.0 grade point average and earn a letter during that grading period/season to be an NWC scholar-athlete. 

Gold level is for those with a 3.5-4.0 GPA, while silver is for 3.0-3.49.

Board updates several policies

Brad Dailey joined the Bluffton School board on Nov. 18. He replaces Brad Fruchey, who announced his resignation in October. Dailey's term runs through Dec. 31, 2021.

Fruchey served on the board for 18 years. He resigned due to his purchased of Riley Creek Sportswear, which presents a conflict of interest for him as a board member.

Ada Area Chamber of Commerce is ready for the holidays. Its annual Merry on Main is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2, in downtown Ada. Here's the activities planned:

• Meet and take photos with Anna and Elsa, characters from the move "Frozen"
• Ada Lions, Ada Kiwanis and Ada Rotary clubs will have activities for kids
