DEFIANCE - The state runner-up Bluffton boys soccer team placed two players on the 2019 Division III All-Ohio team in voting recently conducted by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.
Bluffton senior defender Matt Daws and junior midfielder Jonathan Schriner were each named second team all-state. Both Pirates were also voted first team All-Northwest district.
The Pirates finished 18-3-2 and advanced to the state finals, where they lost to Columbus Wellington 4-0.
This photo borders on the romanticized, but it shows a forerunner of Adams Bridge, originally called Krehbiel Bridge. The photo is from the the 1943 Bluffton College Ista.
Look closely in the middle of the far left and you can seek part of the word "KREHBIEL"" in wooden letters.
When Adams Bridge replaced Krehbiel Bridge, the bridge was rebuilt and relocated slightly to line up with the entrance to Ropp Hall.

A folk art display started in the 1930s, a beautifully decorated vintage business district, and a residential decorating contest make the village a charming destination.
The Bluffton University football team traveled to Defiance on Nov. 16, to take on arch rival Defiance College in the final game of the season for both teams.
Unfortunately for the Beavers, they could not get any offense going which led to a 10-7 loss to the Yellow Jackets. Bluffton fell to 2-8 overall and 2-5 in the Heartland Conference, while Defiance improved to 1-9 overall and 1-6 in the HCAC. The Beavers still lead the all-time series 47-46-2.
The Bluffton University men's basketbal team headed east to Westminster College for the Buzz Ridl Classic over the weekend. A three-pointer at the buzzer gave Westminster a 71-69 victory in Bluffton's season opener from New Wilmington, Penn.
