Catered by Jonah Agner of The Food Store and Greenhorn Restaurant

The Hancock Historical Museum, Findlay, is taking reservations for its 26th annual Victorian Christmas Dinner Saturday, Dec. 14, in a rural Jenera homestead. The Friday date is already sold out.

The dinner takes place at the Glick-Etler House, a restored 1853 farm house at 9085 Township Road 32, Jenera.

The hosts are Nathan and Lauren Etler. The home was built by Lauren’s great-great-great grandfather, Anthony Glick, a German immigrant and survivor of the Famous Dove shipwreck.

The Bluffton University women's basketball team opened up its season at home on Nov. 11, against Alma College.

Despite a two-hour delay due to a severe snowstorm that kept Alma on the road for over seven hours, the Beavers were able to pull off a 62-49 victory over the Scots. With the victory, Bluffton starts its season out at 1-0, while Alma is 0-1.

The Public Interest Law Association and the Office of Career and Professional Development at ONU’s Pettit College of Law has tickets for a Saturday, Nov. 16, Purse Bingo evening.

The event is at Center on Central, 111 Central Ave., Ada. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with Bingo from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

This is a fundraiser. All proceeds go to a scholarship fund for ONU law students who work unpaid public interest jobs during the summer.

The scholarships allow students to work in the public interest sphere while maintaining summer living expenses.

Dave Essinger, Bluffton resident and associate professor of English at the University of Findlay, will lead a workshop on "Intro to non-fiction writing," at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts,  Findlay.

Next brown bag discussion Nov. 19

By Paula Scott, BCE Executive Director
The Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE) is hosting a Brown Bag Discussion series on topics of interest to small businesses.

The small group gatherings at town hall are designed to fit into busy schedules and allow for plenty of questions and answers. You’re welcome to bring your lunch or dinner, while the BCE provides dessert.

On Oct. 23, our conversation focused on commercial building permits, with Jesse Blackburn of the Village of Bluffton and Mike Rudey of Wood County Inspection fielding our questions.
