Join a local folk ensemble Silver Threads among the Gold perform at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Bluffton Public Library, for a set of ballads, both traditional and modern.

"We'll sing you stories of explorers, cross-dressers, soldiers, piccolo players, truck drivers, cowboys and coal miners set to an underlying accompaniment of haunting fiddle tunes and hymns,” said Wendy Chappell-Dick, a member of the group.

The Bluffton HS boys’ soccer team will face Columbus Wellington School Jaguars in the Division III state finals in the Columbus Crew stadium at 4 p.m.

Medicare 101 with the Allen County Council On Aging (ACCOA) is on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m on the library’s lower level.

Admission is free and advanced registration is requested. Representatives will share helpful information for those preparing to sign up for Medicare this year, with time for questions.

Features four Bluffton business professional organizations

Four Bluffton business professionals will offer a free “Getting Your House In Order” workshop this month.

Faith Investment Services, partnering with Fortman Insurance, Scott Basinger, attorney at law, and Neil Reichenbach, CPA, present workshops addressing basic questions about retirement, insurance coverage, taxes and similar subjects.

The workshop is at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the front portion of Faith Investment Services building, 101 N. Main St., Bluffton.

Theme of English Festival keynote address Nov. 12

Eloisa Amezcua, poet and founder of Costura Creative, will be speaking at Forum at 11 a.m. on Tuesday,  Nov. 12, in Yoder Recital Hall. Her presentation, “The Shape of a Poem,” will examine the relationship between form and content and the ways a poem can be a container for the truths it aims to convey.

Some of the most interest people ever to play soccer at Bluffton High School showed up in Doylestown on Wednesday,

Nate Gundy, BHS 2000 grad, and Brett Buller, BHS 2001 grad, both live in Orrville and attended the state semi-final boys' soccer game.

Neither soccer great claim to have been carded while in high school, but their soccer-playing tenacity while at BHS is legendary. (Brother, Ben Gundy, perhaps, was carded ocassionally. That's a different story altogether.)

DOYLESTOWN - The Bluffton boys soccer team came from behind to nip third-ranked Canfield South Range 2-1 in double overtime of the Div. III state semifinals Wednesday evening at Doylestown Chippewa High School.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the major on campus, Bluffton University faculty, students and alumni are coming together for a series of events to highlight the career field including an Oct. 29 Forum.
