Here's the Bluffton school menu

The Bluffton school October lunch menu is now on the Icon.

It begins with barbecue pork sandwiches and mixed vegetables. The month ends with sub sandwiches, carrots and fruit.

American singer-songwriter and actress Alicia Keys is out with her seventh studio album Alicia (stylized all caps) in 2020. This comes after a number of delays due to COVID-19. Keys has received numerous awards in her fantastic career, including 15 (competitive) Grammy Awards. 

The artist was the host for the Awards show in 2019 becoming the first woman in 15 years to do so. She repeated the feat in 2020 in addition to singing a soulful tribute to the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

It called Bluffton students to school from 1884 to 1954

What’s the story of the bell located near the entrance of the middle school?

A close examination of it reveals it was made at the Buckeye Bell Foundry in 1884 by the firm of Vanduzen and Tift of Cincinnati.

It was originally housed in the belfry of an 1875-constructed three-story Victorian school building on Jackson Street. The doors to that building faced Church Street, just as the elementary building doors to today. (see photos below)

Anna Ruth Reichenbach, 95, died Sept. 24, 2020, at Lima Memorial Health System. Anna Ruth was born April 27, 1925, in rural Pandora to the late Albert and Pauline (Zimmerly) Lehman.  On April 16, 1949, she married Dale Reichenbach who preceded her in death on March 11, 2005. 

Cars and coffee, farmers market and Discovery Day with 12 businesses supplying prizes

A fall-themed Discovery Day with prize drawings and a business decorating contest will be hosted by Bluffton merchants on Saturday, Sept. 26.

It also hosts a Saturday morning Cars & Coffee gathering and farmers market.

Nearby, Suter’s Produce has opened their seasonal corn maze, hayride shuttle service to sunflower and pumpkin patches, and cider press shop.

“Bluffton isn’t hosting the annual fall fest this year, but there are fun opportunities in and near the village,” said Paula Scott, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce CEO.

Meeting between Division III 2nd and 5th state ranked teams

 BLUFFTON - The host Bluffton boys soccer team blanked Ottawa Hills 2-0 in a much-awaited showdown between the two top-ranked Div. III teams in the northwest region Thursday night at Steinmetz Field. 

Prior to the contest, Bluffton was ranked number 2 in Division III in the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association poll. Ottawa Hills was ranked 5th.

The unbeaten Pirates improved to 9-0-1 overall with the big victory. The Green Bears fell to 4-3-1 after the defeat.

Dynamic Ag will host a harvest party at 6705 Tom Fett Road, Bluffton from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 27.

The event includes live music, food, hayrides and pumpkins. Shifferly Road Band will perform beginning at 2 p.m. The event is open to the public.
