Services Update -The health and safety of our customers and staff at the Bluffton Public Library is a top priority and the library is working hard to keep services available. As of the time of this press release, the library is open for Curbside Pickup only. Larry Core, former Bluffton village administrator, is the 2019 Bluffton Lions Club Citizen of the Year.
And, in this usual year of covid-19, he received his award delayed. Don Hostetler presented Core with the award last week.
Core, a life-long Bluffton resident and Bluffton High School graduate, has served in several community project and organizations, both behind the scene and as a major player.
Perhaps his greatest village accomplishment was his untiring devotion to bringing DTR (today SumiRiko Ohio) to the village.
The 34th annual Blaze of Lights will put a new spin on Bluffton traditions.
The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce and village Cultural Affairs Committee have updated celebrations to include a video Town Crier presentation, caravan tour of holiday lights, and a free drive-in movie. Dan Bowden is this year's switch hitter who will turn on the holiday lights.
"You can't stop Christmas from coming" is the 2020 Blaze of Lights theme, notes Paula Scott, the chamber CEO: "We are very excited about our modified events, which are designed to help keep families and friends safe."

Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services will hold a virtual Tree of Remembrance memorial service at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, at for those who have lost a loved one this year or in years past.
One free glass ornament is available per family, personalized with the name and dates of their loved one.
Tommy Dean Cross, 66, died Nov. 25, 2020, at Lima Memorial Health System. Tom was born March 11, 1954, in Jellico, Tennesee, to the late Teddy and Dorthy (Rhoden) Cross. On Feb. 24, 1979 he married Bonnie Carlisle Cross who survives.
Tom was a truck driver for Palmer-Donavin Company, Delphos. He was a member of Lafayette Congressional Christian Church where he served as a greeter and usher.
Christian Bucher was born July 3, 1778, in Langnau Emmental, Canton Bern, Switzerland.
He was the son of Friedrick and Elizabeth (Luti) Bucher who remained in Switzerland. His wife, Kristina Brechbuhl, was born Feb. 8, 1789, in Ruderswil, Canton Bern, Switzerland. His father was Urich and we do not have information on his mother.
Tommy D. Cross, 66, of Beaverdam died Nov. 25, 2020, at Lima Memorial Health System. Services will begin at noon Monday, Nov. 30, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are pending at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
