Interstate 75 southbound, through the work zone at the village of Beaverdam, will have lane restrictions Wednesday, March 10, 7 a.m. to noon, for work in the median to seed and mulch.

This is part of an on-going I-75 resurfacing and reconstruction project on Interstate 75 between Napoleon Road and State Route 235, just south of the village of Beaverdam to three miles north of the village of Bluffton through Summer 2021.

Men’s soccer
The Bluffton University men's soccer team battled conference heavyweight Rose-Hulman on a chilly Saturday, March 6, at Salzman Stadium. Kelly Takezo found the back of the net at the 3:50 mark and the Engineers held off Bluffton for a 1-0 victory. The Engineers stayed perfect at 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the Heartland Conference, while Bluffton fell to 0-2 and 0-2 in the HCAC with its second straight 1-0 heartbreaker.

Local residents will be out on the streets of Bluffton on 3-8-21 at 3:30 p.m. to raise awareness for the Ohio Healthcare Plan (Act) that Ohio Legislator Mike Skindell is co – sponsoring.

We will be encouraging people to “Honk for Healthcare” on International Women’s Day! Healthcare issues have become even more critical as 29 million people did not have healthcare insurance in 2019. In 2020, 30% of American workers lost their health insurance an half of them did not get it back.

It's worth noting who is running the store on Bluffton's Main Street

You’d never know it, but once upon a time it was called the Bluffton Business Men’s Association.

The title changed over the years and today, it’s not your grandfather, dad, brother or uncle running the downtown store. It’s your grandmother, mother, sister or aunt.

The Icon recognizes International Women’s Day, today, March 8, and the leadership roles of women in Bluffton, on Main Street and in other communty leadership roles.

Everyone could use a little needling now and then. Especially now.

By Fred Steiner
Completing my civic duty, on Friday I had my second appointment with the Needle they call Moderna.

Was it lovelier the second time around? Emphatically yes.

Everyone could use a little needling now and then. Especially now.

And, everyone who gets the Needle should tell others to get it. That would make the world a better, safer place. So, I’m telling you about it.

Here’s a Bluffton ribbon-cutting photo without any information, but we are working on a theory and we are checking it out with our esteemed list of Bluffton history fact-checkers, so stay tuned.

Jim Diller provided this photo, taken by his father, Paul Diller.

Our guess is this is 1960, based on the yellow-orange license plate on a Chevy station wagon. The tan and white car is a 1959 Pontiac.

The persons we’ve identified from left are William “Kaiser” Gaiffe, Clayton Bixel, _____, _____, Wilbur Amstutz (he was mayor from 1960-65), ___, ___, ___.

This book is about the heroes who worked tirelessly in labs and in the field to try to find a cure, or even better, a vaccine

Review by Robert McCool
This is a big book on a big topic. 745 pages plus 181 pages (large print) of references and bibliography covering two years of research and attempts for a cure to the worst pandemic we've ever had.
