In December 2020, the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Board of Directors issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to explore affiliation with other organizations in order to assure the secure and vibrant future of MHCO. We are pleased to announce that this week, the Board accepted a proposal and approved a contract for a full Management Agreement with Brethren Retirement Communities in Greenville, Ohio. This management agreement continues a business relationship that began in 2019 with an executive consulting partnership.

Although midwives have been around for hundreds of years, the term midwife is one that not many are able to clearly define. There is often confusion surrounding the many types of midwives and the span of roles a midwife might play. Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNM) are highly trained providers who first were educated and trained as registered nurses, then chose to attend accredited universities, followed by passing a midwifery board-certified examination. CNMs also must maintain their licensures every five years by completing a number of continuing education requirements.

The Glass City Special band will play at Bluffton Town Hall, 154 N. Main St, 3rd Floor, Saturday, July 31 at 7:00 p.m.

Glass City Special is a bluegrass and Americana band out of Toledo. Their shows are known for variety, surprise, energy, with stunning instrumentals and vocals by the fiddle player, Tierra Raiti, who was deeply inspired to become a bluegrass musician when she heard "that fiddle sound" as a young child for the very first time at a Bluffton Town Hall Concert many years ago.

Bluffton Lantern Nutrition at 142 E. Jefferson St, is now officially open.

The new business in Bluffton hosted a grand opening on Saturday, July 24.

As a nutrition business promotiong health and wellness, Bluffton Lantern Nutrition offers meal-replacement smoothies and fruity energy teas.

The owners, Jeffrey and Jennifer Putman, started the business due to their love of the products and desire to help others live a healthier life.

Bluffton Lantern Nutrition is open Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Amber Troutwine of Perry proTECH gave a presentation during the Finance Committee meeting, July 15, detailing the current internet network in use by the Village. Some wireless connections are either currently not working or very slow and lack cyber security. It was proposed to update these connections with reliable internet and improve security. The plan was quoted at $8,603.83. The Finance Committee agreed to continue with the proposal. Initial taps and connections for a virtual private network (VPN) are scheduled for installation by Spectrum on or before Friday, July 30.

A Celebration of Life for Doris E. Palte will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at her son, Steve Palte's residence, 7905 N. Phillips Road, Bluffton.

Doris passed away April 27, 2020. Arrangements were entrusted with Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

G. Louise Drury, 99, of Sebring, Florida and formerly of Bluffton passed away July 23, 2021 at her residence in Sebring, Florida. Louise was born December 30, 1921 in Burnet, Texas to the late Lester and Ethel (Ruggley) Durck. On May 21, 1938 she married Jason Lyle Drury who preceded her in death on June 26, 1999.

Louise was a homemaker and also had worked at Ward's Department Store in Lima. She was a member of the Sebring Church of the Nazarene in Sebring, Florida. Louise enjoyed crocheting, knitting and painting.
