Fair is scheduled for Aug. 20-28

The Allen County Fair Office has announced the registration deadline for the 2021 fair parade.

The deadline to enter the parade is Wednesday, August 4, 2021. To register, call the fair office at 419-225-7141.

Additionally, the fair announced the livestock camper registration deadline as August 1, 2021.

Season, membership passes, and ride vouchers are available at the fair office.

This year's Allen County Fair is August 20-28, 2021.

Event includes ice cream and door prizes

It's almost here — Tommy Tire's customer appreciation day.

After a one-year absence due to COVID-19, the event returns this Thursday, July 22. The rain date is set for Friday, July 23. The event is held during business hours.

The location of the event is at Tommy Tire, 319 N. Main St., Bluffton.

Activities planned include ice cream from Lugibihl's and door prizes for kids.

The family of Dorothy Balmer would like to honor her with a card shower in celebration of her 95th birthday, on Sunday, July 25.

Tickets now on sale at BFR

Tickets are now on sale for one of Bluffton Family Recreation's more popular evening programs, "Dueling for Dumbbells."

The event returns to Bluffton following a year off due to COVID-19.

The program is on Saturday, August 7, from 6 to 11 p.m. The event is held at BFR, 215 Snider Road, according to Daniel Tinch.

Tickets include a full dinner provided by Bubba C's.

Tickets are $50 each and are available to purchase at BFR.

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) will host “Managing Menopause: Understanding the Different Stages of Menopause” virtual presentation, a part of the 2021 virtual “Live and Learn” Facebook Live series.

Esther M. Spar, 97 died July 16, 2021 at Otterbein-Cridersville Nursing Home. She was born November 12, 1923 in Beaverdam to the late Walter M. and Luella M. (Steiner) Hochstettler. On July 19, 1945, she married Donald D. Spar and he passed away September 3, 2019.

Esther was a graduate of Beaverdam High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church where she participated in the Builder's Class and sang in the choir.

Ray A. Graves, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at his residence. Ray was born on January 15, 1938 in Vinton County near Ray, Ohio to the late Otis and Clara (Thacker) Graves.

Ray is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda (Parish) Graves of Pandora; two sons, David (Karen) Graves of Mansfield, Ohio, Tim Graves of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a grandson, David Sean Graves of Colorado Springs, a sister Joanne (Larry) Stevens of Chillicothe, Ohio; a brother, Claude (Georgene) Graves of Blacklick, Ohio and a sister-in-law, Julie Huwer Graves of St Mary’s, Ohio.

The Village of Bluffton Planning Commission plans to meet on Tuesday, July 20 at 5:00 p.m. on the third floor of the Town Hall. The meeting will serve as a pre-application conference for a potential major subdivision off of Sunset Drive.
