The Beaverdam Alumni Association hosted a banquet on Saturday, May 14 at the Centre at Bluffton. Dwain Holt was the MC for the evening.

Among the guests were siblings George Greenway (75 years graduation anniversary) and Donna Greenaway (70 years graduation anniversary).

George taught Industrial Arts at Bluffton High School and Elida High School, and is a graduate of Ohio Northern University. Donna went to college at North Western Business School. She worked for American Standard, Eastwood Schools and Bowling Green State University.

The Bluffton Disc Golf Association has announced that this coming weekend, it will be doing some wood chipping on the 18-hole course in the Village park.

"If you see us working, please jump around us to the next hole to avoid any safety concerns.

"If you would like to help out, we will be working from 8-5 Saturday and Sunday. Those interested in helping should bring closed toe shoes, gloves and safety glasses.

Village Cleanup: May 24-26

Dumpsters arrive at Spring Street brush dump next week for Bluffton residents to use during the annual Village Cleanup from Tuesday, May 24 through Thursday, May 26. The use of these dumpsters is reserved for Village of Bluffton residents only. Village employees may randomly verify that individuals utilizing the dumpsters are residents of the Village.  

The following items should NOT be put in the dumpster:

The Lima Area Youth Orchestra held its 2021-2022 season finale on Sunday, May 15. The program was led by LAYO Music Director Sarah Waters and Co-Conductor Joseph MacBenn.

Bluffton students participating in the program are:

Bluffton University softball player Bobbi Adams (Delaware/Rutherford B. Hayes) capped off her junior campaign with National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) 3rd Team All-Region honors. Adams is Bluffton's eighth all-region honoree in the past nine years, including herself in 2021 and fellow Rutherford B. Hayes graduate Caylin Morstadt in 2019.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 384 student-athletes from 197 schools who comprise the 2022 NFCA Division III All-Region teams.

UPDATED: The meeting time has been adjusted to 8 p.m.

The Village of Bluffton has announced a Bluffton in Bloom Committee meeting at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18.

The meeting will be held at Town Hall, 154 N. Main St.

 

The Allen County Engineer Office has announced that starting Monday, May 16, Grismore Road Bridge between Napoleon and Cool Roads will be closed for approximately 5 weeks for a bridge deck replacement.

There will be no access during closure.

Reminder for chamber members: Business After Hours is back.

From 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a casual networking event with light appetizers and a cash bar at Greenhorn restaurant, 112 Vine St.

Women for Economic and Leadership Development (WELD) wil hold a virtual coffee chat at 9 a.m. on May 17.

Discussion Topic: How does your credibility affect your advocacy?

The chat is open to members and friends of WELD Northwest Ohio E-Chapter.
