The Everly Brothers released their hit single “All I Have to Do Is Dream” in 1958. This followed their 1957 hit “Wake Up Little Susie.” The songs were written by the prolific duo of Felice and Boudleaux Bryant. The legendary Chet Atkins played the guitar for The Everly Brothers on both singles. The Everly Brothers were known as an American rock duo and as pioneers of country rock.
As you might expect, Bluffton's National Night Out 2022 began with a big splash and ended with an even bigger bang on August 2.
The Bluffton and Pandora police departments--with the help of area fire departments, EMS, highway patrol and park rangers--put on the annual community celebration for area families that begins with free admission to Bluffton Community Pool and ends with fireworks sponsored by Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce donors. The events include late night food, drinks, music and dancing.

The Swiss Community Historical Society will hold the final summer open house of 2022 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6. The Schumacher Homestead, which includes the three-bay 1843 Schumacher house, is located at 8350 Bixel Road between Bluffton and Pandora.
FINDLAY, Ohio—After postponing in 2020, The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation will once again host Community Conversations, a dialogue with members of the community. The Foundation previously hosted Community Conversations in collaboration with United Way of Hancock County in 2017.

James “J.R.” Phipps, age 43, of Ada, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, at his residence in Ada, surrounded by his family.
He was born on August 30, 1978, in Hobart, IN to Mary E. (Phipps) Hale. His mother and father, Mary and Doyal Hale preceded him in death.
J.R. is survived by two children: Kadin and Khloe Phipps; a special friend: Roxanne Velasquez; two brothers: Cann “Casey” Phipps, and Christopher (Rita) Hale; and a sister, Angie (Kevin) Hunt. J.R.’s mother-in-law: Ida Velasquez also preceded him in death.
Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton. has hosted an annual “Concert on the Lawn” since 2005. This year, the event features the Pantasia Steel Band in a free concert at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21.
The Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Service Group will serve “The Creamery” ice cream. Special thanks is given to Don Snyder Excavating and Everence, who are sponsoring this year’s concert.
Seating is not provided, so those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and dress for the weather.
