The 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Bluffton University and take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Bluffton University Nature Preserve.
The women’s 6K race will kick off at noon with the men’s 8k race starting at 1 p.m.
The October 24 regular meeting of the Village of Bluffton council began with a moment of silence in memory of council member Jerry Cupples’ wife Sonia, who passed away on October 18.

Teachers seeking new opportunities in the field of education now have an accelerated summer option, offered by Bluffton University, to complete their coursework for an Ohio Department of Education reading endorsement.
Licensed teachers enrolled in the program will take two classes in June, two classes in July and can complete their clinical practicum in the fall at their own school. Classes are offered online or through Zoom videoconferencing. Once classes and the practicum are complete, program participants are eligible to take the Ohio Assessments for Educators
Just because the Roe vs. Wade decision has been struck down by the Supreme Court does not mean that it will eliminate abortions. It only means that many abortions will be relegated to unhealthy self-attempts or back-alley butchers, which was the case prior to Roe.

The Bluffton High School boys soccer team shut out Riverdale 1-0 Wednesday evening, October 26, in the Div. III district semifinals at Tiffin's Frost-Kalnow Stadium.
The Pirate record improved to 10-6-2 after the win that advanced them to the district finals.

Chris W. Faine, 67, of Columbus and formerly of Mt. Cory passed away October 25, 2022 at the Whetstone Rehabilitation Center in Columbus.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Three players from the Bluffton High School baseball team were a part of the league championship winning team in the Putnam County Fall Baseball League. The championship game was held last Saturday, Oct. 15.
