Faculty piano recital by Dr. Da Eun Choi

BLUFFTON, Ohio – Dr. Da Eun Choi, accompanist and music instructor at Bluffton University, will present a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023, in Bluffton’s Yoder Recital Hall. Featuring pieces by Mozart, Brahms, Debussy and Liszt, the solo piano recital will showcase her musicality and technical skill.

A native of South Korea, Choi began piano lessons at the age of 4 and gave her debut, public, solo recital at the age of 15. She has a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at the University of Texas at Austin and was a recipient of the Sidney M. Wright Endowed Presidential Scholarship. Choi’s recent performances include solo recitals and chamber concerts in Texas; Washington, D.C.; Maryland; Italy and Korea.

The recital is free and open to the public.

Summary of February 13 council meeting

The Village of Bluffton Council held a regular meeting on Monday, February 13. There were approximately nine people in attendance and all council members were present. Mayor Richard Johnson conducted the meeting, beginning with the hiring of Police Office Austin Probst. Council approved the terms of his employment followed by a swearing-in ceremony.

The meeting agenda is attached with supporting documents. Minutes of prior meetings and bills were approved unanimously without discussion.

Chicken Run

In 2000, the highest grossing stop-motion animated film in history was released titled Chicken Run, bringing in 227 million dollars. When my daughter was in elementary school, she loved this movie and we watched it over and over again!

The movie was directed and written by Peter Lord and Nick Park. A stop-motion film requires the moviemakers to physically manipulate the characters in small increments between the photograph frames so they appear in motion.

The Village of Bluffton has announced the following public meeting to be held at Bluffton Town Hall, 154 N. Main.

Personnel Committee on Monday, February 20 at noon.

Ordinance Committee on Monday, February 20 at 5:00 p.m.

Safety Services Committee on Monday, February 20 at 6:00 p.m.

Tree Commission on Wednesday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m.

Bluffton Beyond Tomorrow on Wednesday, February 22 at 7:30 p.m.

BHS boys basketball win vs Black Knights

The visiting Bluffton High School boys basketball team rode a big third period to defeat Van Buren 60-49 in a non-league bout Tuesday night, February 14.

The Pirates trailed just 28-26 at halftime, and took control of the game with an 18-8 third stanza. They then won the fourth quarter 16-13 to capture the contest going away by 11.

Join Hancock Park District for ‘Maple Sugarin'

FINDLAY- Spring is almost here and the temperatures are starting to fluctuate. This means that conditions are right for collecting maple tree sap. Step back in time to see the process the pioneers and Native Americans used to collect sap, transport it to the sugar bush, and boil it down to produce sweet maple syrup.
