Bluffton council discussed, but did not act upon a proposal on Oct. 26 that would mean no pay increases in 2010 for village employees. Generally the village has had annual salary increased close to the rate of inflation.

Since the village is experiencing lower revenue from its village income tax all village spending has slowed this year.

Thanks to the late Theda Hankish, the Bluffton School Board's October meeting was highlighted by the approval of the Hankish Scholarship Endowment Fund. Hankish, a lifelong Bluffton resident and longtime school teacher, left an endowment in the amount of $50,000 to the local school district, according to Greg Denecker, superintendent. The fund will generate an annual one-time $1,000 scholarship to a Bluffton High School student who plans to enter the teaching profession. The meeting was Oct. 19.

Logan and Sydney Nussbaum

Hey, look! Spiderman. No, two Spidermen. Actually its Logan Nussbaum and his sister, Sydney. They were among countless youngsters who dressed up for the BFR Halloween party on Oct. 25. Logan and Sydney are the children of Rick and Aphaphanh Nussbaum of Bluffton.
