This week's gift to the Swiss Community Historial Society from Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio assists the Society's current capital campaign. Here is an overview of the Society's expansion plans.
The historical society’s expansion has three parts.
1 – Construction of a “heritage building.” The building, located at 8350 Bixel Road, will be constructed on the land of the 1840s Schumacher homestead. It will house local antiques, artifacts and archives of the society. It will have rooms for meetings and a children’s museum area.
Bluffton Farmers' Market - rained out last week for the first time in memory - will be open Saturday, July 4, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Citizens National Bank parking lot.
Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) presented a $4,000 gift to the Swiss Community Historical Society for its Heritage Center capital campaign. The gift was made during the Society’s annual Swiss Day program.

The occasion was the fulfillment of a 2010 commitment when MHCO unexpectedly received a large gift from the estate of James and Frieda Basinger.
