Masthead, other new features added to The Icon
Viewers will begin to notice several changes in The Bluffton Icon starting today.
First, we are excited to unveil our official masthead, which is in the top left corner of this page. It was designed by Fred Steiner using InDesign. It will begin to appear on various Icon promotional pieces.
"We wanted a modern look that is a bit on the edge," said Steiner. This one one of about 12 designs we've played around with since The Icon was launched. The masthead will change colors from month to month, as it is a fluid piece.
The Icon is also adding additional stories and photos to the home page. By the end of the week we will offer free classified ads. Those ads will be placed on the bottom of the home page.
The location of the free classified ads will draw viewers to the bottom, thus exposing more stories and advertising links to viewers.
An additional feature includes adding a link to Bluffton University athletics from our sport page. That link will be added later this week.
We will also change some of the placement of feature photos in our photo gallery to make it easier to view photos. Watch for those changes.
Viewers may already have noticed that it is no longer fall in Bluffton. The corn harvest photo on the masthead is now a photo of the Blaze of Lights.
Watch for other new features to The Icon this month, including a weekly contest and other interesting features.
