Bluffton's July flower

It's early July. In Bluffton that means that lots of white-petaled flowers with yellow faces are in bloom. They are Shasta daisies.

Anne Stratton will appraise area antiques from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, at the Bluffton Dari Freeze. Those attending are invited to bring two items per person for appraisals.

Bill Marchal said that everyone is invited to attend, even if you don't have an item to be appraised. "She is very entertaining," said Marchal.

Stratton does not appraise coins, weapons or collectibles. Her next visit to the Dari Freeze is from 5-7 p.m., Sept. 15.

An after-hours pool party fundraiser is planned for the Brockert/Mikesell family at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday, July 17.

A silent auction is also part of the event.

Admission is $3 a person (sorry, pool passes not accepted). Donations are being accepted. Pizza will be available for sale. All proceeds from the event go to the Brockert/Mikesell families.

There's still time to register for the Saturday, July 23, second annual Bluffton American Legion golf scramble. The scramble, held at Bluffton Golf Club, has a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

This year the stakes increased as a 2008 Dodge Avenger SXT will be won by a golfer who records a hole-in-one at the event.

The cost to golf is $50 per person or $200 per team. The registration fee includes green fees, cart, door prizes and a steak dinner provided by Richland Manor.
