Casting a ballot

Terri Sutherland of Harrod is the Mennonite Memorial Home employee of the month.

Sutherland joined Mennonite Memorial Home in August of 2000 in the housekeeping department.

In 2005 she took a position in the activities department.

Her supervisor says that she goes over and above for the residents, on one occasion helping a couple to get all dressed up of a special event.

Her co-workers say she notices the little things and those things make a big difference in the lives of those she serves.

Bluffton business, Beyond Budgeting, LLC., will sponsor a Budget Boot Camp from 1 to 2 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 23, according to Beth A. Boehr.

This free workshop will cover:
o budgeting basics, how to spend less than you earn,

o checkbooks, managing and balencing,

o credit cards, using them wisely, and

o life insurance, benefits and options.

It's an ambitious schedule this week at the Bluffton Hospital construction site. Here's a list of projects on the schedule:

Calling all girls ages 5-10 - you could be Bluffton's Little Miss Sesquicentennial! In conjunction with the Sesquicentennial festivities to be held this year, the Bluffton Public Library is hosting a Little Miss Sesquicentennial Pageant on Thursday, June 23.

Registration begins at 6 p.m. and the pageant will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the Richland Room of the library.

Girls ages 5-7 are eligible to become Little Miss Junior Sesquicentennial, while ages 8-10 will compete to become Little Miss Sesquicentennial.

Bluffton University has announced its 2011 May Day court, which was elected by the student body and will be honored during the annual May Day celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, on the Centennial Hall lawn. The rain location is Founders Hall.

The court includes King Kenny Miller and Queen Leah Roeschley, both seniors, along with senior escort Joel Wildermuth, senior attendant Mary Good and junior chairpersons Jenna Eshleman and Alex Woodring.
