Make way for Grand Shannon.

The Bluffton Sportsmen's Club 67th annual trout derby, held Sunday, May 1, will honor the village sesquicentennial by naming its number one tagged ground "Grand Shannon."This year's derby has over $4,000 in cash and prizes on tagged trout.

Icon viewers had a hand in naming this year's fish. The Sportsmen's Club invited The Icon to poll viewers on four suggested names for this year's tag number 1. Icon viewers chose "Grand Shannon."

Icon viewers may have noticed the large window above the St. John's UCC door is missing. Never fear - the congregation is having the stained-glass windows restored and releaded this year. It will return soon as good as new.

A men's alumni basketball tournament is set Saturday, June 4, at Bluffton High School, according to Todd Boblitt, BHS boys' coach.

The teams will be comprised of any graduate from Bluffton High School. It is not a requirement that you played basketball on the high school team.

Two divisions will compete: recreational and competitive.

The competitive division will be a double-elimination tournament and the recreational format will be determined at a later time, depending on team interest.

Judson Laipply '98-of online "Evolution of Dance" fame-and fellow alumni Ginny Buckingham '10, Tyson Goings '01, Daryl Dowdy '90 and Lou Stokes '73 recently descended upon Bluffton University's Founders Hall for a video shoot promoting the final push for funds for the new Health and Fitness Education Center on campus.

The Ohio Northern University Astronomy Club invites area residents to "The Galaxies of Spring," an astronomy event in the ONU Observatory on Friday, May 6, from 9 to 11 p.m.

During the viewing, telescopes will first follow the crescent moon as it descends in the west and then Saturn as it rises in the east. After twilight, participants will hunt down some galaxies near the North Galactic Pole, which will be well placed near the meridian.
