You've never witnessed a parade for this event in Bluffton. The 2010 Bluffton High School baseball team captured the school's first-ever Northwest Conference baseball championship on May 6. Such a prize deserved several rides around town. Other Pirate teams have come close, but this team was the first ever to achieve the title.

As Dad, Jim Stratton, got back from WWII (spending 3 years in the South Pacific on a supply ship ' the USS Calamares' delivering and receiving to ports in the Philippines, Australia, China, and others as a 18 year old) he went back to Westinghouse in Lima to work.
We recognize the significance of Dan Rumer's role in the Bluffton schools. Not only has he served as a high school principal, but also as a school board member. He is the only person ever to serve in both roles - of course, at different times.
We appreciate the devotion he has given to the school district as a professional and as a parent. He will be hard to replace on the board.
As we look back, there have been very few times that a school board member has resigned during a term. This is an unusual event. It is the school board's duty to select a replacement.
The first of two monthly community meals sponsored by the Bluffton Area Ministerial Association is at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 8, at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center.
The May 6 meal will be catered by the Bluffton Presbyterian Church. On May 22 the meal will be catered by the Bluffton St. John's United Church of Christ.
Both dinners begin at 6 p.m. Donations are accepted and all proceeds go to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program food pantry.
