Elders, family members and staff nominated several Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) employees for LeadingAge Ohio STAR Awards. 

With the tagline, “You Make the Difference!” the STAR Awards are presented annually to create a moment of public recognition for front-line, non-management staff who care for our elderly population. 

STARS nominees, honored at an April 11 luncheon at Otterbein, St. Marys were:

Former Bluffton resident Eleanor Linden Thurston, 89, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died on April 18, 2019.

Born July 5, 1929, in Normal, Illinois to George W. Linden and Ruth (Lantz)
Linden. Ellie grew up in Bluffton, Ohio, and graduated from Bluffton High
School. She graduated from The College of Wooster, Ohio, and obtained her
master's in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University. As an
Occupational Therapist she helped polio patients in Durham, North Carolina
and Chicago, Illinois.

Proper cleaning and care of contact lenses may prevent eye infections and injury

Cleaning contact lenses incorrectly could have negative consequences for your health and vision.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns consumers to be cautious when caring for their contact lenses. This is particularly important when using contact solution that contains hydrogen peroxide.

The eighteenth annual Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Findlay, 2230 S. Main St., Findlay. 

This interfaith memorial service will honor BVHS patients and residents who passed away in 2018. All are welcome to attend the service, which will be followed by a reception.
