Pandora-Bluffton received 16 inches of snow in January

Hey, it was January. What did you expect! The Bluffton-Pandora January 2011 average daily temperature was 21 degrees according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer. Our normal average January temperature is 23.7 degrees.

But that wasn't the big weather story for January 2011. The Bluffton-Pandora area recorded 16 inches of snow in the first month of the year. The January 2010 snowfall was 9.9 inches. The 60-year average January snowfall is 2.04 inches.

Bluffton snow plows hit the streets at 3 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, according to Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator. He told The Icon that three village vehicles are plowing streets.

"I anticipate that the village crews will stop plowing sometime today where there is a lull in the storm," he said. "Then they will be back on the streets by evening."

Renovar~A(c) leaders to speak at Bluffton

The Revs. Chris Webb and Mickey Cox of Renovar'e, a Denver-based Christian spiritual formation organization, will discuss "The Place of Intentional Christian Formation in the Discipleship Process" as the Spiritual Life Week Forum speakers at Bluffton University. Ryan Price, a student at the University of Colorado-Denver and a Renovar'e volunteer, will join Webb and Cox for the forum, which is free and open to the public at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, in Yoder Recital Hall.

Bluffton students to discuss time in Washington, abroad

Bluffton University students who participated in the Washington, D.C., Community Scholars' Center and semester-abroad programs during fall semester 2010 will share their experiences at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall. The forum is free and open to the public.

Bluffton senior presents piano, conducting recital

Brandon Fullenkamp, a pianist and conductor from Wapakoneta, will present his Bluffton University senior recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, in Yoder Recital Hall on the Bluffton campus. The recital is free and open to the public.
