Bluffton students to discuss time in Washington, abroad
Bluffton University students who participated in the Washington, D.C., Community Scholars' Center and semester-abroad programs during fall semester 2010 will share their experiences at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall. The forum is free and open to the public.
Presenters will include Rachel Huelsman (Celina, Ohio); Ben Kimmel (Kenton, Ohio); Deborah Telahun (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia); and Katie Welch (Berne, Ind.), all of whom spent the semester in Washington, D.C.; Christine Amstutz (Cassopolis, Mich.), who was in Costa Rica; Beth Kuntz (Covington, Ohio), Mexico; Brittany Sinnema-Jackson (Ashland, Ohio), Greece; and Haley Keller (Spencerville, Ohio), Ecuador.
Each year, Bluffton students have the option of studying elsewhere for a semester or spending two to three weeks in May and June exploring a different culture in the United States or abroad. These opportunities give students a chance to immerse themselves in a different culture, providing widened perspectives, new insights and an increased respect for community.
