Pirate girls win O-G Gold track meet, Bluffton boys 2nd

OTTAWA – The talented Bluffton High School girls track and field team won the tough nine-team Ottawa-Glandorf Gold meet on April 17.
The Pirate girls scored 127 points to edge second place host Ottawa-Glandorf (119) by eight points. Otsego finished third with 96 points.
The Pirate boys finished second at the meet to the Titans. The O-G boys tallied 134 points, while Bluffton scored 108.25. Liberty-Benton came in third with 85.5 points.
Participating teams were Bath, Bluffton, Elida, Liberty-Benton, Old Fort, Otsego, Ottawa-Glandorf, Urbana, Van Buren and Van Wert.
Pirate Maelee Miller won the 400 meters, and finished second in the 100 hurdles. The versatile freshman also took third in the high jump.
Junior Mya McDougle was second in the 100-meter dash and took third in the 200 meters.
Pirate senior Kally Cotter won the pole vault, followed closely in second by teammate Alayna Mueller.
Senior Sadie Tarplee won the long jump and came in fourth in the high jump.
Sophomore Nora Matthews finished second in the 1600-meter run.
Pirate senior Griffin Stackhouse again sped to two sprint wins. He crossed the finish line first in the 100 and 200-meter races to pace the boys.
Senior Marek Donaldson took first in the 1600 meters. Senior Noah Bricker topped the field in the high jump to claim first.
Junior Kain Wright crossed the line second in the 400 meters.
