Ten Bluffton businesses and the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce are continuing the tradition of the downtown Christmas Open House on November 4-5. Check your mail for a flyer detailing the special offers and holiday gift ideas to be found downtown.

Girls Scouts recruitment party

Bluffton Girl Scout troops are holding a recruitment party from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 7 at First Mennonite Church. 

Girls will get a chance to see what meetings are like and learn about founder Juliette Gordon Lowe.

Organizers note, “will be celebrating [Lowe’s] birthday! All ages of girls are welcome!”

Dough Hook collects donations to Ronald McDonald house

The Dough Hook Meat Market is teaming up with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio to help those in need. Throughout the months of November and December, The Dough Hook Meat Market will be collecting cash donations that will be turned into meat for the house’s freezer.

BHS cross county ready for state finals

The Bluffton High School boys cross country team will be returning to the OHSAA finals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5 at Fortress Obetz, south of Columbus.

Cross country coach Bill Theisen told the Icon that team is ready to run its best times. “We really plan for peaking at regionals and holding that to state.”

Twenty teams with seven runners and many individuals will compete, creating a field of 300 or more runners. Theisen explained, “If you want to do well, you’ve got to get out pretty fast. It’s a lot like regionals because that has 200 runners.”

Leaf pickup paused until November 7

On November 3, Mayor Rich Johnson announced that Village of Bluffton leaf collection services have been paused due to several equipment failures.

This service is scheduled to return on Monday, November 7.

Johnson's message includes "Thank you for your patience as we work to get this practice back on schedule."
