Ralph L. Miller was a builder

Ralph L. Miller, 86, passed away October 28, 2022, at his residence in Bluffton. 

Ralph was born September 15, 1936 in Lima, to Elmer and Ruth (Hartman) Miller who preceded him in death. On October 9, 1955 he married Dorothy "Dottie" (Bowman) Miller who preceded him in death on April 9, 1999. On August 16, 2003 he married Beth (Robinson) Boehr-Miller who survives.

Pirate boys 5th; Essinger 47th in girls race

TIFFIN--Bluffton High School boys finished a strong fifth in the 22-team Div. III regional cross country meet Saturday, October 29, at Tiffin to advance the Pirate harriers to the state meet at Obetz next Saturday.

The top-seeded Bluffton High School girls soccer team dominated play and led for 60 minutes, but ended up losing a 2-1 double overtime battle to visiting nemesis Riverdale in the Div. III district final match at Steinmetz Field on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

The Pirate girls end their season 16-3 with the defeat on the cloudless, 66-degree day. The stunning finish ended their 10-match win streak, which started ironically after a 1-0 loss to the Lady Falcons September 10.

BHS boys soccer edged late, takes home loss in district finals

In the final minutes of a scoreless Div. III district final battle Saturday night, the Bluffton High School boys soccer team gave up a penalty kick goal and lost 1-0 to visiting Mansfield Christian under the lights on a cool but wind-less Saturday evening, October 29, at Steinmetz Field.

The Pirate season finished at 10-7-2 after the difficult defeat. The third-seeded Flames improved to 15-6-1 following the hard-fought road win.

A Halloween story with a Bluffton twist

Want to hear a good Halloween story? Here’s one. And, it’s true.

Most of us have forgotten that the bend in the road on State Route 235 north of Ada was originally laid out as a 90-degree angle. If you head north, you can see a remnant of that angle – but look closely.

Most of us have also forgotten that the 90-degree angle once had a name: Dead Man’s Jog.

Trick or Treat 2022

Costumes sweet and scary were all over Bluffton--but especially thick on Main St--on October 27, the designated Trick or Treat night for 2022. With a blanket of leaves on many yards, the scene was picture perfect.
