Bluffton netters sweep Wildcats

Bluffton High School blanked Kenton 5-0 in girls tennis play Thursday afternoon, August 11, at the Ohio Northern University courts in Ada.

The lopsided win upped the Pirate record to 1-1-1 this season.

The Pirate girls won all 10 sets and dropped just seven of 67 games in the match.

Juniors Brooke Camper and Caitlyn Couch each rolled to victory by the score of 6-2, 6-0 at first and second singles, respectively.

Freshman Hannah Nieman cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at third singles.

Pool days winding up

Let this Jamie Nygaard photo at National Night Out serve as a reminder of the pool weather of summer '22. This week temperatures and attendance haven't been so hot. The last day of the season for the Bluffton Community Pool is August 20. 

OSU program aims to increase number of doctors serving rural areas

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In an effort to increase the number of physicians caring for patients in mid-size and rural communities, The Ohio State University College of Medicine is partnering with Bon Secours Mercy Health to launch a new community medicine medical degree track to prepare physicians to practice medicine in less densely populated areas.

From 5:00-6:30 p.m. on August 31, Pandora and Gilboa United Methodist Churches are sponsoring a community meal:

  • 5-6:30 p.m. DINE IN
  • 6-6:30 CARRY OUT

Menu: Turkey Sub Sandwich, Baked beans, Macaroni Salad, Cookies, Drink

The meal will take place at 108 E Washington St, Pandora.

MHCO hosts "Game Day" gala on October 13

Fundraiser for Benevolent Care Fund

Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio will host an inaugural gala event on October 13, 2022.  The theme will be “Game Day” and guests will be invited to wear their favorite sports attire–from a hat to a full team uniform. The fundraising event will benefit the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Benevolent Care Fund, which provides support to care for older adults who have outlived their resources.

Weekend warriors

Exercise is a critical piece to overall health. The Heart Foundation provides a list of the top 10 reasons why someone does not exercise.  The top three are: I am too tired, I can’t afford a gym and I don’t have time.  

So, could concentrated time exercising be a potential solution, giving credence to the notion of a weekend warrior?
